well i don’t hate her but some people hate her for chosing edward or for kissing jacob
Some people say that she is selfish.
Which is somewhat true, but I still like her.

Twilight haters dislike her because she is an empty shell of a character used as a vessel for Stephenie Meyer’s own fantasies.
Twilight fans dislike her because they want the dead guy all to themselves.
I dont see why people hate a stupid character that doesn’t exsist,
but to answer your question, because people who hate things that don’t exsist are pathetic and have no lives.
I can’t for the life of me understand so much negative attitudes being made known. As I was raised if you didn’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all. I personally liked Bella Swan.
I love Bella! Without her there would be no Twilight -gasps and thinks of that- OH MY GOSH!!!
she’s bland. she never truly developes as a character. she’s monotone. she can kind of whine in her inner thought dialouge. she displays women who depend on men, and who do all the housework. she is “irrivocably” in love with someone who wants to murder her, and someone she doesn’t honestly know.
other than that, she’s alright.
never bothered me until after i finished reading the series.

I don’t hate her (she is fictional) but i do find her character weak, clumsy, and a total push-over. I DO hate it, however, when people say she is a female heroine or something because that is just stupid. She is not a hero and in the story the guys ALWAYS have to save her cuz she cant take care of herself. She’s shy and clingy and basically lets everyone walk all over her.
If you read The Host also by Stephenie Meyer you’ll find the main female character has all the traits i mentioned above. It’s even worse though because she ends up loving both the men who beat the crap out of her previously with the story.

Coz’ it’s new… the way Stephenie Meyer writes it is that being clumsy and unco-ordinated is okay, even good. People are not used to that.

I hate her because she’s basically Stephenie Meyer, but 15 years younger. A complete Mary Sue. And Bella’s a necrophiliac, which I’m pretty sure is illegal in most countries.

Many people believe she is selfish, but I don’t see why. Here are the reasons I don’t care for her so much.
1. She teaches woman to let the man handle everything, which is a big step backwards for woman everywhere.
2. She’s a Mary Sue, but SM hides it by calling her clumsy. If she wasn’t perfect every boy wouldn’t be falling in love with her on the first day of school, and she wouldn’t get a guy as good as Edward.
3. Does anyone else find it sort of disturbing that Jacob and Bella make out and then she goes over and makes out with Edward?
