I really don’t understand what happened there. I tried rereading ti several times, but I just can’t figure it out. Can someone please explain it in clearer terms, or what you think happened? Thanks. 
Okay, got it. He jumped infront of her, got that. It was after he put his arms infront of her is where I got confused. So he stopped the van with his hands, and his hands left a dent, then what the heck happened? Thanks!

She was standing at the back of the truck and the van almost hit her but Edward (using his super speedyness) stopped it from hitting her by using his body (which is rock solid) … Idk if thats what you meant but ask if you want more details..

She is walking out to her car to school when a van, skidding on the ice, slides in front of her. Edward jumps in front of her and saves her from the skidding van by basically punched a huge hole in the van.

his siblings saw everything that happened and then they took bella to the hopiatl and there she replays the moment in her head
kay here it is:
bella is in the school parkking lot…she sees edward from a distance,and he gets this horrified look on his face. bella turns around and sees this huge van coming right for her….then edward zooms over and huddles over her…he leaves a dent in the car……….bella knows he came from the other side of the parking lot but he insists that he was nexxt to her the whole time. nobody else saw edward save her,so onlt bella knows wat he just did, bella knows somethimg is weird with edward..and she is determinned to find out,HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!

Alright, well, this is how I interpreted the scene:
Bella is standing by the bed of her truck, and she sees Edward staring at her from across the parking lot. Suddenly, she notices that his expression is one of horror, so she whips around to see what he’s so horrified at, only to find that a van is careening toward her, skidding on the icy asphalt. She knows she doesn’t have time to move, so she braces herself for the impact.
Then she feels something hard hit her, but not from the direction she was expecting. She falls down and her head cracks against the asphalt. When she opens her eyes, she sees Edward looming over her. She then notices that the van is still coming toward her, and Edward whips her legs around just in time for the van not to squash them; he stops the momentum of the van by delving his shoulder into its side, leaving a huge dent.
Bella knows that something is odd with this Edward fellow, because she KNOWS that he was all the way across the parking lot—there was no way he could have gotten there so fast. However, to keep his secret, he tries to convince her that he was standing next to her the entire time. He even questions her with a mocking tone, implying that she’s insane: “You think I lifted a van off of you?”
Anyway, hope that helps! I don’t recommend watching the Twilgiht trailer for this scene, because it’s not exactly correct with what the book describes.
