In the Book Twilight Edward talks to Bella about the forest by her house, did I miss the point to that speech?

I’m confused,

So Edward asks Bella not to go into the forest alone, and warns her he may not be the most dangerous thing out there or something along those lines:

How does he know that she went in there, cause he was hunting?

What was he refering to, cause the other Vampires don’t come till later in the book, and the werewovles don’t come till the next book?

Why does he leave her alone in there in the beginning of New Moon?

well duh! he means other vampires who want to eat her AND werewolves too!

  • Lia A says:

He was referring to the werewolves on the La Push reservation.

In the beginning of New Moon, he leaves her alone in those woods, but she’s right on the path and extremely close to her house. It’s Bella’s own fault that she wanders and gets lost.

Ahhh, actually, I didn’t really get that either. Maybe Alice had a vision or something???? We’ll have to wait for Midnight Sun (if it gets published) to see. :)

I really don’t think it was about the wolves, didn’t they start changing LATER in the series?

I think he knew that she was out there from Alice–she probably saw that Bella was out there while Edward was out hunting. So he warned her. I think the other dangerous things out there are the Werewolves. Becasue even though Jacob isn’t a werewolf yet, Edward knows that Sam and his friends are Werewolves. because of the treaty…remember….and Edward and his family of vampires can’t go into La Push in Twilight, becuase Sam and Paul and them are werewolves…even in Jake and his friends–Quill and Embry aren’t. And i think that Edward left Bella in the forest because she wasn’t that far into the forest, and they were on a path…even though Bella got lost anyway…So really that was a bad idea that Edward had. and maybe he heard the Werewolves thoughts and they were not anywhere near the area.

  • Lizzie R says:

he’s knows of all the horror that is in the world, meaning vampires, werewolves and even humans who can hurt her like the men in Port Angeles.
he knows that any vampire can kill her with the snap of a finger, including him, so he’s very over protective of her.

and for the New Moon, he wanted her to have a better life than he thought/knew he could giver her so he left her in the woods, but didnt completly leave, staying near her until Charlie and them found her to make sue she was safe.

He says it right there” there are more dangerous things than me” he means other vampires and werewolfs are there too

We have to assume that Edward was talking about other vampires because we can’t be sure until Midnight Sun. By the way, sorry people in Twilight he has NO idea about the werewolf (then it was only Sam Uley) on the La Push lands.

Edward knew she was out there because Alice SAW her.

In the beginning of New Moon the Cullens have to move because they are pushing what people will believe about their ages. Edward chooses to leave not only to be with his family. but after Jasper tried to kill Bella, Edward leaves to protect Bella from him, his family (mainly Jasper), and from Victoria thinking she was after him. He left her on the beginning of the trail so that she could still see the house and get back, but so it was private enough. Bella got lost in the forest after she tried to follow him.
