Taylor Lautner will play Jacob again.
They are keeping the same guy. Any previews you’ve seen aren’t real as they’ve only just started filming.

it depends on what you mean by ‘change’. if you mean they changed the actor, no. Taylor Launer is playing Jacob Black again. if you mean the vampires changed him to be a vampire too, no. he remains who he is (if you know what i mean, if youve read new moon and know about his revelations about who he really is). if you mean if they changed the way he looks, yes. he cut his hair short. hope i helped. =)

There has been controversy on whether or not Jacob (Taylor Launter) will be able to bulk up enough to play the role of a wolf in New Moon. But, they finally decided that Taylor Launter will still play Jacob Black. It also says this on http://www.stepheniemeyer.com on the New Moon movie page! Hope I helped!
Well, they just started filming, so i dont think there’re any previews yet, but Jacob is still being played by Taylor Lautner, dont worry.

They wanted to switch actors because Taylor Lautner isn’t ‘muscley’ enough, but he bulked up and they are keeping him. Yay!

For a long time there was a dispute whether or not Taylor Lautner would be returning to New Moon. After intense weeks of workout and a few dozen pounds of muscle added on to his body, Taylor Lautner earned the role of Jacob once again in New Moon. So no worries, he’s there (:

There was a really complicated bit about Jacob. As you know, in the book New Moon, Jacob goes through major physical changes. Such changes that would be probably impossible for a normal human.
When they were signing on the cast for New Moon, Taylor Lautner was very dubious about taking this part again. He felt that he would not do Jacob justice. After being begged to sign on with the show again, he finally succumbed. The only catch was, if he was going to play Jacob, he had to majorly beef up.
If you have seen the Twilight movie, you know that Taylor is not exactly buff, he’s rather slight, in fact. After weeks of training, it looked like he would not be able to put on the muscle needed to realize Jacob’s huge transformation. They started looking for another Jacob then.
But I guess Taylor just suddenly started putting on tons of muscle because they halted the search and he is back on as Jacob for (repotedly) the rest of the movies.
The reason you might have thought he was someone else is because he looks SOOO different now, its amazing. Jacob also cuts his hair for New Moon, which drastically changes his appearance.
He’s been confirmed as playing Jake again. Fortunately! I can’t see anyone else playing the part. Also, the trailers that you’ve been watching are fanmade. The cast and crew just started filming, so we most likely won’t get an official teaser until sometime in the summer.
