Does Anyone Else Think The Twilight Movie Is A Bad Idea?
I don’t think it’s a good idea because everyone has a picture of each character in their heads and I just think the movie won’t come close to that. I love Twilight to death, but I think the movie is gonna suck.
I’m was excited for it…until I saw all the people they were casting…AHHH Edward is soo ugly…and I can barely see Jasper in any of the pictures:( I really hope it doesn’t suck…http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/twilight_m…
Books never adapt well to the silver screen because of exactly that problem; the vision that is filmed and shown to the crowds is not the same picture that the readers have come up with in their imagination. Does it mean that you should arbitrarily decide, “This sucks… I’m not going to see it, it’s going to be horrible!” or that you should spend the entire time in you’re in the movie evaluating where they differed from the books? Absolutely not!
I advise you to watch the film and give it a chance, but you should remember that just because this is not how you envision the story (aside from the creative scripting changes they’ll need as Twilight is showing only one side and they will need to show the Cullen’s side at the same time) it is how some one else sees it. What you will see on the screen is someone’s interpretation of the novels.
i want to see it…. its always interesting to see books made into movies…. i read all the twilight books and i really like them but im still gonna see the movie… im just not going to have high expectations…..
i won’t be going to see it. i have my idea of the characters and settings in my head, and if i watch it it’ll wreck it. bleh, i agree, the cast is dire. the girl they picked for bella doesn’t look anything like how i imagined her -.- edward’s ok, i guess..but yeah. i don’t think any actor would be able to come close to how i imagined him. :/ gaspard was pretty good ..
i would’ve liked it if they used actors that weren’t really famous..because all the way through the film now, every time i see edward i’ll be thinking, ‘HARRY POTTER! HARRY POTTER!’ O_o
and they’ll turn it into a crappy cheesy hollywood movie.
i’m excited about the twilight book coming out this year though ^_^
ugh. the casting… i don’t even know where to begin!! i love the book, but i realy don’t know how they picked some of the cast members.. it’s true, everyone will have a different image of the characters than what will be shown in the movie… but, they are fictional.. so it’s jujst like any other story :harry potter, lord of the rings… etc. i am dying to c the movie, just cuz i love the book, i really hope the cast doesn’t ruin the movie..
well i think that it might be a little weird cause the whole movie you will be trying to figure out what is going on and what is happening well i think everyone will figure it out in the middel of the movie other than out it might be good!!!!
I actually can’t wait to see it. I know that everyone is disappointed by who everyone is but maybe their acting will be better than we think it will be.
It might be weird a little !! but i think it’s gona be good movie but sometimes movies are different from books and they change some parts but i hope its gona be good!!
Obviously, I don’t think that I can see anyone as Edward… I’ve kind of warmed up to using the image of Gaspard Ulliel, but the image I have in my head of Edward is beyond human, and I doubt any actor can capture that. Casting issues aside, the problem I have how hard it is to change a book into a movie and do a good job. Out of all the adaptations of books I’ve seen, there have only been a small handful of movies that either matched or surpassed the books in quality. For me, the Twilight carries a sort of magic, and I don’t think that it can be transferred to the movie. I have a bad feeling that it’s going to devolve into just another chick flick. That said, I am probably going to go and see it anyway, and so what I get will be my own fault.
Sigh, this is one time I’m actually interested in the movie. No character is going to match the image in one’s head just as each production of a play is never going to display the characters exactly the same (and that’s the beauty of it). Twilight’s plot (despite all the bashing I do of the book) does have a certain charm to it that I think will lend well to a movie script. Plus I still can’t figure out why all these girls are bashing Patterson for not being pretty enough. Come on Edward isn’t god of all god’s drop-dead gorgeous. No where in the text does Meyer even describe anything close. The poor guy has to survive small time high school which would be impossible if he was. Anyway, just because a movie version doesn’t fit what you have in your head you shouldn’t use that as an excuse to ruin either or both the book and movie experiences. Daniel Radcliffe doesn’t fit how I envision Harry Potter but still think he has done a great job portraying the character nor has it changed the version I have in my head.
